The Truth about Shi’ism

Assalamu’alaykum warahmatullah,

I just finished reading this book written by Dr Ahmed al-Afghanee and translated by Dr. Bilal Philips regarding Shi’ism entitled The Mirage in Iran. SubhanAllah. This book really exposed how deficient we are in understanding the beliefs of the Shi’ites. I know just a little bit about Shi’isms through my readings from Islamic history books but I never knew in depth about their true creed and beliefs.

The history basically tells all about how treacherous the Shi’ites are in corrupting the mind of the Muslims and about their deeds in the effort to destroy the Islamic civilization in the past. From creating fitnah by dividing the Muslims into factions in the era of rightly guided Caliphs to the killing of Hussain and putting the blame to Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah to plotting with the Mongols against the ‘Abbasid Caliphate and completely wipe out the ‘Abbasid civilization. And their treacherous deeds never stops until today.

Their beliefs can be summarized as the followings:

1- These Imaamee Shi’ites do not even believe in the narrations of the Prophet’s sunnah. They even slander other sahabah for betraying the message of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and thus rejecting a huge amount of authentic hadiths narrated by the sahabah. By the way, they have their own Saheeh called Al- Kaafee.

2- They consider the Imaams to be infallible and in certain sects of Shi’ites, they even believe that these Imaams are at higher level than the Prophets and angels. This, in true Islamic foundation, is not correct as no person surpass the Prophets in terms of taqwa and nearness to Allah since the Prophets were chosen by Allah SWT. Also, there should be no more revelation from the heavens after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so how they manage to get the idea of Imaams is unknown. Revelation from Taghut, maybe?

3- Not only that, hypocrisy and dissimulation or more known to Shi’ites as Taqeeyah is part of their religious tenet. Meaning, when in the midst of the Sunnites, these people will act as if they are part of the Islamic brotherhood but when they are amongst themselves, they despise the Sunnites. This is against the nature of religion itself. Even in Christianity or Judaism you will never hear them propagating hypocrisy as part of their religious obligations. The fact that they encourage hypocrisy, these people should be deemed the lowest of mankind for the Qur’an and the sunnah of Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) testify that hypocrites are amongst the worst and lowest of people in the eyes of Allah.

4- They even have their own mushaf called Mushaf Faatimah where they distorted the meaning of the Qur’an and they even have addition of imaginary chapter called Surah al Walaayah. This is a major innovation and this act of innovation, in and of itself, is the biggest innovation any Muslim can ever think of!

5- Shi’ite scholars have branded most of the sahabah as disbelievers. You can refer this from their ‘great’ book of hadeeth al-Kaafee (sounded more like al-Kaafeer to me if they can simply slander sahabah as being disbelievers just like that with no sound knowledge of it).

6- They branded us, Sunni Muslims, who do not believe in Imaamate of ‘Ali as disbelievers.

Seriously, after reading this book, I would say that the biggest fitnah in Islam is Shi’ism. Their teachings are not at all suitable to be called Islam. Islam is too pure for such innovations, lies and hypocrisies. Its very shocking how they can hold firmly to their beliefs because apparently their teachings don’t teach them to become better individuals but to become highly skilled dissimulators and propagators of mischief in this pure religion. May Allah guide them and us. May He protects us and our progeny from the fitnah of this world and the next. Ameen.

So brothers and sisters, I would like to remind and encourage myself first and everyone else to equip ourselves with authentic knowledge of the deen. We need to look for the truth and be ready to accept truth when it comes to us for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say that the one who turns his back from the truth after he hears it has kibr in his heart. And the ones with even an atom weight of kibr in their hearts will never enter Jannah. After gaining the knowledge, it is our responsibility to spread the knowledge to as much people as possible and to warn them against disobedience to Allah. May Allah strengthens us with proper knowledge and understanding of the deen and may He makes us amongst the propagators of truth and acceptors of truth, ameen. Please read this book and this book to further understand the truth about Shi’ism. And I would also recommend you to read this book to know more about the characteristics of the hypocrites.
